My name is Persi (any pronouns are fine), and as mentioned in the title of my blog, I write weird. I love to write, and though I’m currently working on a book I doubt I’ll ever finish, I often have ideas for short stories and need somewhere to put them. This site is more for me than anyone else, I may never be a published author but at least I can say my work is out there and someone somewhere might have read it.
I don’t stick to any particular genre, though the first couple of things I posted were definitely horror. My short stories mostly come from dreams, so a big thank you to my messed up subconscious and my epilepsy medication! Hopefully as time goes on, I’ll embrace more genres and writing styles. For now, though, it’s just a source of fun, a chance to practice my writing and hone my skills.
I think being blind has an effect on my writing style, I struggle to incorporate visual descriptions in to things and have to really think about doing so. I’ve never had sight and so can’t visualise, and sometimes I forget the rest of the world needs visuals. It’s one of the many things I’m working on.
I’d like to think, though, that blindness also gives me a different perspective on things. A lot of my work seems to be about belonging and visibility, although I haven’t made a conscious decision to write that way. I suppose some things come naturally.
I really hope anyone who finds this enjoys my stuff, and if you don’t… Well I’d like this space to stay positive, so constructive criticism is appreciated but please don’t be mean!
